TIPS

  • Use Ripe Banana: The riper the banana, the smoother and sweeter the texture.

  • Chill Ingredients: Cold coconut water and chilled fruit yield a naturally cool drink without dilution.
  • Add Ice Cubes Last: If using ice, blend after all ingredients are smooth to maintain consistency.
  • Garnish Simply: A slice of dragon fruit or banana on the rim enhances presentation without added effort.
  • Blend Thoroughly: Dragon fruit’s seeds may remain the whole blend longer if you prefer a seed-free sip.

VARIATIONS

  • Boost Protein: Add 1 teaspoon of chia seeds or a scoop of plant-based protein powder.
  • Citrus Edge: Include 1 tablespoon of orange juice or a splash of lemon juice to brighten the flavour.
  • Greens Upgrade: Add a handful of spinach or kale for a mild green smoothie with more nutrients.
  • Switch The Liquid: Replace coconut water with almond milk or oat milk for a creamier version.
  • Berry Swap: Use frozen raspberries or strawberries instead of bananas for a tangier twist.

·        PREPPING AND STORAGE

  • Refrigeration: Store in a sealed glass jar or bottle in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Shake before drinking.
  • Freezing: Pour into ice cube trays to freeze, then re-blend with a splash of coconut water for a quick frozen juice.
  • Meal-Prep Tip: Pre-cut and portion the banana and dragon fruit into freezer bags. Add liquid just before blending.
  • Avoid Oxidisation: The banana can darken if stored too long. Add a dash of lemon juice to maintain colour.
  • Single-Serve Fresh: This recipe is best consumed immediately for optimal flavour, nutrients and colour vibrancy.
